Homer L. Hensler

Jan. 31, 1913 – Dec. 9, 2004

Homer L. "Doc" Hensler, 91, of Carthage died Thursday, December 9 in Hancock Memorial Hospital in Greenfield. He was born January 31, 1913 in Amboy, a son of the late Homer and Frances (Simmonds) Hensler Jr.

Mr. Hensler, a veterinarian, attended Ohio State University and received his veterinary medicine degree from Texas A&M in College Station, Texas. He had lived in Carthage for 54 years. He was a 50-year member of the Carthage Lions Club, 50-year member of B.P.O.E #1307 at Rushville and a member of Rushville F.O.P. He was a former director of State Bank of Carthage and a member of the American Veterinary Medical Assoc. He was an avid fisherman and outdoorsman.

On June 22, 1944, he married Agnes Kolbasinski and recently celebrated their 60 wedding anniversary. She survives.

Other survivors include one sister, Dorothy Rush of Bellevue, Wash. and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. today (Wednesday, Dec. 15) at Todd Funeral Home in Carthage with Pastor Roger Campbell officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery.

Visitation was held Tuesday, December 14 at the funeral home.
