Norman Joseph "Buddy" Yentzen, Jr.
July 17, 1934 - June 26, 2018

LAFAYETTE ~ Funeral services will be held Friday, June 29, 2018 at 3:00 p.m. Evangeline Memorial Gardens Chapel in Carencro for Norman Joseph "Buddy" Yentzen, age 83, who passed away Tuesday, June 26, 2018 at his residence in Lafayette.

Interment will be in Evangeline Memorial Gardens in Carencro. Deacon Kenneth Sonnier will officiate at the services.

Mr. Yentzen was a native of Nederland, TX and a resident of Lafayette. He was a proud 1955 graduate of Texas A&M. He opened Coastal Pipe in 1957 and ran the business until 2006, which has since become a family owned and operated business. He was a very independent, driven man who did things his way.

Buddy believed knowledge is power and traveled the world three times. To him, traveling was an education, an education he paid forward in return for someone helping him. Mr. Yentzen’s grandfather developed and hand carved the "Yentzen Duck Calls”. Following in his footstep, Buddy became an avid duck hunter. He valued family and loved his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed playing cards, which has become a family tradition during the holidays.

Survivors include one son, Doug Yentzen and his wife, Tanya, of Lafayette; two daughters, Nancy Yentzen Kelley and her husband, Patrick, of Houston, TX and Ricki Ann Yentzen Arsement of Carencro; one brother, Mike Yentzen and his wife, Bonnie, of Sugarland, TX; one sister, Patty Lou Yentzen Wells; one brother-in-law, Neil Rudd of Friendswood, TX; nine grandchildren, Brooke Doucet and her husband, Robbie, Cassi Champagne and her husband, J.P., Haili Arsement and her fiancé, Dylan Schott, Ali Arsement, Jonathan Yentzen and his wife, Crystal, Jake Yentzen and his wife, Sara, Jordan Yentzen and his fiancée, Alida Pitre, Sean Kelley and Caitlin Kelley; twelve great grandchildren and one on the way.

He was preceded in death by his loving and devoted wife, Verna "Honey" Lou Schexnailder Yentzen; his parents, Norman Joseph Yentzen, Sr. and the former Cora Cappel; and one sister, Marcia Yentzen Rudd.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 1:30 p.m. Friday until service time on Friday.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to the world of Hospice and all caretakers, especially Ellen Noel, for their tireless effort in making Buddy’s last days comfortable.
