Charles (Charlie) Martin Boenig of Woodsboro, Texas, passed away with his family by his side on June 27, 2018. He was born on December 17, 1936 and preceded in death by his parents Martin and Lottie Boenig and sister Kaye Melton. He leaves behind a family who couldn't have loved him more. His high school sweetheart and wife of 55 years, Fran Boenig and children Tracie Heil (John), Brad Boenig (Vanessa), Pam Cox, Kari Burke and grandchildren Lauren and Connor Boenig, Kaitlyn and Garrett Cox and Charlie and Ben Burke will miss him very much. Charlie graduated from the University of Texas with a Bachelor of Science in Geology and earned his Master of Science from Texas A&M University. He worked as a geologist for Pennzoil (now Devon Energy) for over 15 years. As successful as he was in his career, he was most proud of his wife, children and grandchildren and he loved spending time with family. You could often find him around the kitchen table with his brothers Bryce and Dennis, talking about the weather, their cattle business and politics. He was a great man who influenced many by living a life where his actions spoke volumes of his character and kindness. A viewing will be held on Sunday, July 1st from 6p.m. to 8p.m. at Moore Funeral Home in Refugio, Texas. The funeral service will be on Monday, July 2nd at 2p.m. and will be held at Faith United Church in Woodsboro, Texas. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Good Samaritan organization, P.O. Box 483, Refugio, Texas 78377
