Mr. Melvin Charles Sueltenfuss
Born: December 31, 1924
Died: June 13, 2018
Location: San Antonio, Texas

Melvin Charles Sueltenfuss, age 93, of San Antonio went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, June 13, 2018. Son of Walter and Hedwig Sueltenfuss, Melvin was born in Comfort, Texas on December 31, 1924. He married Dorothy Harz on June 8, 1949, and they shared their lives together for 58 years before her passing in 2008.

Melvin served in the 20th Armored Division in World War ll. He graduated from Texas A&M University in 1949 with a BS in Civil Engineering. Melvin was a life member of the National and Texas Society of Professional Engineers and the American Society of Civil Engineers. He was named Engineer of the Year by the Bexar County Chapter in 1971. Melvin was active in the Alamo Area Council of Boy Scouts and a recipient of the Silver Beaver Award in 1959. He was President of the Alamo Regional Science Fair in 1974. Melvin was employed by the City of San Antonio for 23 years retiring as Director of Public Works. After retirement from the city, he worked for 10 years as President of Lackland City Water Company. In his later retirement years, Melvin served in various positions with the City of Fair Oaks Ranch including Alderman.

A loving and caring husband, Dad, "Opa" and "Big Opa", Melvin is survived by his daughter and son-in law Denise (Dee Dee) and Perry Sedgwick; daughter and son-in-law Karen and Kenneth Fargason; twin brother Marvin and Faydell Sueltenfuss, sister-in-law Raye (Ikey) and Edward Peter and sister-in-law Emmie and Preston Kronkosky. Opa loved his time with grandchildren Sam and Shannon (Sedgwick) Davis, Christopher and Jill Sedgwick, Trip and Danielle (Fargason) Voss, and Matthew and Kourtney (Fargason) Price. Big Opa also found great joy in his five great-grandchildren: Connor and Brody Davis, Abigail and Caleb Sedgwick, Noah Price and baby Davis Voss due in July.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Blueprint Ministries, Post Office Box 782128, San Antonio, Texas 78278.
