Donald R. Humphries
May 20, 1928 - March 03, 2018
Donald R. Humphries, 89 of Austin, TX passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 3rd, 2018 of natural causes. Graveside services will be held Thursday, March 8th, 2018 at 10:00 A.M. at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Clifton, Texas. Arrangements made by Clifton Funeral Home.
Don was born May 20th, 1928 in Gail, Texas to the late Race and Benny Humphries and older brother Jack Humphries. In 1951 he married Beverly Harris of Gatesville, Texas. Don graduated from Texas A&M in 1957 and was later employed by Alcoa Corporation. Don was a Veteran of the United States Air Force. He and his wife lived in Texas, New Mexico, Alaska, Iowa and Illinois, finally retiring to Austin, Texas. Don enjoyed watching Texas A&M football, playing poker, bridge, drinking margaritas and spending time with family.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 60 years, Beverly Humphries (July 30th, 2011) and brother Jack Humphries (March 4th, 2018).
He is survived by two sons, Brett Humphries of Austin, TX and Joel Humphries and husband, Vincent Contreras of Austin, TX. Sister in-law, Cindy Holcomb and husband, Paul of Cuero, TX. Nephews, Glenn Humphries of Philipines, Robin Humphries and wife, Lynn of Midland,TX, Larry Humphries and wife, Donna of Balmorhea,TX, Leon Humphries of Midland,TX, Hunter McDonald and wife, Whitney of Round Rock, TX and Paul Jr. Holcomb and wife, Gina of Cuero,TX. Nieces, Hilary Peck and husband, Crosby of Portland, OR and Courtney McDonald of Charlotte, NC.
