SEPTEMBER 18, 1942 – MARCH 5, 2018
erry C. Finkbiner, a remarkable human being, died on March 5, 2018 after a courageous two year battle with cancer. He was born on September 18, 1942 in Galveston, Texas to Glenn and Mary Sue Finkbiner. He is survived by his devoted wife of 35 years Patricia Finkbiner, son Robert (Rob) Finkbiner, daughter Mary Finkbiner Granato, son-in-law Ernie Granato, his adored granddaughters Giavanna Rose and Olivia Grace Granato, step-son Pete Kennamore, wife Deborah Kennamore, and valued grandsons Matthew and Daniel Kennamore. He is also survived by his brother Glenn Finkbiner Jr, his wife Sylvia, and a host of relatives and friends that will miss him dearly.
He spent an idyllic childhood in Galveston, attended Ball High School and graduated in 1965 from his beloved Texas A&M University. He was then commissioned to the Armed Forces and served in Germany for 2 years. He remained active in the Army Reserves, retiring a Full Colonel. He was extremely proud of his military service.
Terry joined Armco Steel Corporation in 1967 and retired from AK Steel (formerly Armco) as General Manager of Stainless Steel Sales in 2004. After his retirement, he and Patricia moved to April Sound in Montgomery, TX. He immediately became active in the community. He served as President of the Montgomery County Crime Stoppers and worked with the organization from 2004 to 2011. Terry and Patricia attended First United Methodist Church of Conroe where Terry was active in their Beacon Sunday School group and volunteered in many of the church’s programs. This included four mission trips to Haiti as well as serving the homeless through the Crisis Assistance Center.
Terry loved God, his family, his country and Texas A&M, but not necessarily in that order during football season. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Conroe’s The Gathering Place or the church’s youth program.
Services will be held at First Methodist Conroe, 4308 W Davis St, Conroe, TX 77304 on Friday March the 9th at 10am. Interment will be in Galveston.
