Ivan Jerome “Bo” Bohuslav, 93, passed away on Saturday, January 20, 2018 in Ennis, Texas.

Bo was born in Moulton, Texas on September 30, 1924 to Frank and Agnes (Darilek) Bohuslav. He was raised in Komensky/Moulton on a farm and graduated from Moulton High School. He joined the Army Air Corps in 1942 and served as a Gunner in the South Pacific Arena returning to the states in 1946 thereby earning himself the decree as a member of the “The Greatest Generation”. He attended Texas A&M University, graduating in 1949 with a degree in Agronomy, proudly serving in the Corp. Bo began his working life as a Broker for the Dallas Cotton Exchange, working in the cotton industry until 1966. In 1967 he began a successful career as a manager of Labor Pool in Dallas, retiring in 1987. He continued working after “retiring” buying/selling cotton from local farmers and day trading. He loved working and being busy.

Bo was proud of his Czech heritage and Catholic faith. He was very active in the Ennis Polka Festival organization and was especially proud of the Polka Mass celebration at the Knights of Columbus hall on the Sunday during the festival. He enjoyed singing in the St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church Czech Choir, further preserving his Czech heritage. He was an active member of the Knights of Columbus for many years.

He loved singing and dancing, morning coffee at Charley’s Grocery, Tuesday morning dominos at the church, poker tournaments at the K.C. with his daughter, Maryette, and fishing the local lakes.

Bo was at heart, a farmer without the farm, but he always found a place to raise a horse or two and some cows. He loved tending to his yard and was proud of his flowers, especially his rose bushes.

He traveled the world, both career and recreational trips with Margie but by far, his most memorable trip was to Washington D.C. as an Honor Flight veteran and talked often of those memories.

He is survived by his wife, Margaret “Margie” (Valek) Bohuslav married since September 7, 1948 this year celebrating 70 years of marriage; daughter, Maryette Bohuslav Garrett and husband, Ron; grandchildren who lovingly called him “Papa Bo” Josh and Kelly Garrett, Kaki and Rob Warren and Katy Newberry; great-grandchildren: Lucy and Jones Warren and Charley Garrett; sons-in-law; Brad Newberry and Soren Marklund; brothers: Frank Bohuslav and wife, Georgia and Ben Bohuslav and wife, Lou; sisters-in-law: Clara Bohuslav and Palmae Hanslik along with a host of nieces and nephews whom called him “Uncle Yvonne”.

Greeting him at his passing with joyful arms and with love was his beloved daughter, Lisa (Bohuslav) Newberry Marklund, along with his parents, brother and wife, Ermin and Doris Bohuslav, sister and husband, Marcella and Herman Hanslik and brother, John Bohuslav.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 24, 2018 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. in the J.E. Keever Mortuary of Ennis with Rosary at 7 p.m.

Mass of the Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, January 25, 2018 at 10 a.m. in the St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church of Ennis. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery under the direction of J.E. Keever Mortuary, Inc.

The family would like to thank IOOF Nursing home for their loving care.

Bo will be remembered as a hard working, proud, independent man, Bo will be greatly missed.
