Jerry Wallace Woods
November 27, 1952 - December 28, 2017

SADLER – Memorial Services for Jerry Wallace Woods, 65, will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, January 6, 2018 at Meador Funeral Home Chapel in Whitesboro with Rev. Doyle Henderson officiating.
Jerry passed away on Thursday, December 28, 2017 at Texoma Medical Center in Denison.
He was born November 27, 1952 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma the only child of James Wallace Woods and Ruth Hughes Woods. After the death of his parents, Jerry was adopted and raised by his aunt and uncle Jay and Dena Woods. Jerry and his adopted brothers grew up in Mansfield, Texas. He achieved his Bachelors degree from Texas A&M University and then earned a Masters degree in Wildlife Biology from the University of Tennessee. Jerry owned and operated Woods Water and Wildlife. He worked 35 years guiding hunts throughout Texas and Oklahoma. He was an avid fisherman with a great love of the outdoors. Jerry was a loving husband, Daddy, and Papa. He was a gentle soul that enjoyed good wine, good conversation, traveling, and spending time with family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Cathy Woods of Sadler; two daughters, Lara Perry and husband, Brent of New Braunfels, and Erin Shehu and husband, Nik of Bastrop; four grandchildren, Sofia Perry, Samantha Perry, Kenrik Shehu, and Koen Shehu; three brothers, Woodrow Woods and wife, Constance of the Dallas/Ft. Worth area, James “Jim” Woods and wife, Terri of the Hurst-Euless-Bedford area, and Dan Woods and wife, Gail of Costa Rica.
He was preceded in death by his birth parents, James and Ruth Woods; his adoptive parents, Alvin J. and Dena Woods; and a brother, Ben Woods.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to CASA of Grayson County 1411 W. Houston St. Sherman, Tx 75092.
