Charles was born September 6, 1924 in Lovelady, Texas. He was raised there, and attended Lovelady schools graduating from high school in 1942. In the fall of 1942 he enrolled at Texas A&M and was a member of the corps. By the Spring of 1943, he had enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. He went to boot camp in San Diego then began his radio training at two different communications schools at Camp Pendleton. He was a member of the 5th Marine division and then later became a member of the13th Marine Regiment. After his training, he went overseas to Hawaii and then to Saipan to Iwo Jima during WWII. He was discharged in April 1946. He returned to A&M in August 1946 and stayed until January 1949. Sometime after that, he moved to Dallas and worked in the Commodity Credit Office.
He met his wife, Doris Frances Pagitt Perry in Dallas and they married in the First Methodist Church in Bryan, Texas on March 14, 1953. They had their only child, Linda Lou Perry in March 24, 1954.
Shortly after, they moved to Houston and lived there for 26 years. He spent those years working as an USDA warehouse examiner. He was a member of Garden Villas United Methodist Church in Houston for many years. In 1980, they moved to Temple, Texas and he worked in the USDA warehouse examiner's office until retiring at the end of 1988. He was a member of First Methodist Church of Temple since November 1980 and was a Stephen minister for several years. He and his wife prepared communion for many years at the First Methodist church. Charles & Doris were very active in the community. They volunteered at Temple Civic Theater and the CTLC. They also visited nursing homes together for many years delivering cookies and devotional books. In his later years, he took care of wife, Doris, for several years while she was going through her illness and memory loss. The last part of his life Charles spent time at home with frequent visits to College Station to see his family. He enjoyed telling about old times past and spending time with his daughter and son in law, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and all their dogs. Survived by: His daughter, Linda Perry Forshage and her husband, Larry Forshage, Granddaughter, Laurie Lynn Forshage Hanus and her husband, Darryl Hanus, Grandson, Landon Louis, Forshage and his wife, Kayla Forshage, Great granddaughters, Zoe Marie Forshage and Lily Frances Forshage, Proceeded in death: His parents, Lee F Perry and Elizabeth G Perry and three brothers Wife, Doris Frances Perry, Grandson, Larren Lee Forshage, In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Temple First United Methodist Church, or Lovelady Methodist Church.
