Joseph Laird Saunders
January 19, 1937 - November 24, 2017
Joseph Laird Saunders passed away peacefully on November 24, 2017 surrounded by his family Frances Acree Saunders and daughters Kim Saunders Hamilton and Karen Saunders.
He was born to Oscar and Leola Saunders January 19,1937 in McPherson, Kansas. His family moved to Texas City where he grew up and graduated from LaMarque High School in 1956. He was a graduate of Texas A&M and worked as a pharmaceutical representative for Abbott Laboratories and Bristol-Myers in his early career and later at Amoco in Texas City until retirement. Joe and Frances enjoyed 55 years of marriage, many happy times with family and some great vacation destinations domestic and foreign.
He is survived by grandchildren Brittany and Jordan Hamilton and great-granddaughter Baileigh. Of course, he was an avid Texas A&M football fan never missing any televised or radio broadcast games with daughter Karen and their four-legged friends Daisy and Emmy. This, together with his passion for Western movies, filled much of his time in his later years. His family will miss him but are thankful that he has found peace following his very long illness.
A visitation will be held Thursday, November 30, 2017 from 5:00-7:00 pm at Emken-Linton Funeral Home in Texas City, Texas. Graveside services will be held at a later date. Please make donations to Alzheimer's Foundation, Hospice, or a charity of your choice in lieu flowers.
