Judith Ann Cox McClendon 67 entered heavens gates November 12, 2017.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, Nov. 16, 2017, at Washington Avenue Christian Church with Jim Shelburne, senior pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.

Judy was born August 3 1950, to Douglas and Margarette Cox of Amarillo, Texas. She graduated from Caprock High school in 1968 and attended Southwestern College in Oklahoma City until 1970. She married the love her life Richard McClendon of Pampa TX, July 29th 1972. Judy and Richard lived in Clarendon where she worked and went to school while he finished his Associates Degree and then they moved to College Station where Judy attended Texas A&M with Richard and he finished his Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree. They landed in Houston where she worked and finished her Associates Degree at San Jacinto College.

Judy was very artistic and enjoyed drawing, painting, pottery and making crafts to decorate the home. Judy followed Richard all over the country to his jobs and during this time perfected and expanded her artistic skills. In 1993 Judy and her family landed back in Amarillo where they settled down and she started a business, Gabby Anne’s, with two of her sisters, designing and making crafts for home décor and decorating homes. Judy loved decorating homes and her home always showed that.

Judy loved her Lord and Savior; she faithfully attended church from childhood through adulthood. Judy was a true description of a virtuous Proverbs 31 woman: Faith, serves God with all of her heart, mind and soul; Marriage, respects her husband and is a helpmate; Mothering, teaches and nurtures her children; Health, cares for her body and prepares healthy food for her family; Service, serves her husband, family, friends and neighbors; Finances, spends money wisely; Industry, works willingly with her hands; Homemaking, creates an inviting atmosphere of warmth and love; Time, works diligently to complete her daily task; Beauty, has the inner beauty that only comes from Christ. She faithfully studied her bible and prayed; Judy would wake up early in the wee hours of the morning and could be found in the kitchen with a cup of coffee and her bible opened and stained with tears where she had been praying for her husband, children, grandchildren, mother, sisters, brother, nieces, nephews and friends’ needs. Judy was a prayer warrior and saw many of those prayers answered in her lifetime.

Judy was preceded in death by her father, mother and brother, Norman. She is survived by her husband Richard, two daughters Kimberly and husband Lyle Kjerstad; Megan McClendon; two grandchildren Brody Kjerstad and Klaire Kjerstad of Bushland, TX; three sisters; Shirley Holmes, Donna Voelm of Amarillo, Tx and Pam Moore of Lewisville, TX. Judy had many nieces, nephews and lifelong friends who held a special place in her heart.

The family will receive friends from 6-7 P.M. Wednesday, November 15, 2017, at the funeral home.
