John Stransky Jr.
September 2, 1923 - September 19, 2012

No services are planned at this time for Dr. John J. Stransky, Jr. Ph.D, 89, of Nacogdoches, Texas.

Dr. Stransky was born on September 2, 1923, in Budapest, Hungary, the son of the late Dr. Janos Stransky and Ellinor Milne Stransky.

John studied forestry at universities in Hungary, Germany, Harvard, SFA and got his Ph.D from Texas A&M. He was an officer candidate of the Royal Hungarian Calvary and served in its National Guard in WWII.

Dr. Stransky came to Nacogdoches in 1958 with the U.S.D.A. Forest Service Southern Forest Experiment Station and retired here in 1985. He was well known for his writings in forestry, wildlife and shooting sports.

He is survived by one son, John H. Stransky and three granddaughters, Michelle, Sara and Alexandra Stransky.

In addition to his parents and his wife he was preceded in death by a son, Nicholas B. Stransky.
