William "Bill" White
September 30, 1923 - October 5, 2014

William “Bill” Bryant White, age 91, of Cherokee passed away Sunday, October 5, 2014 in Llano.
Graveside services for Bill will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, October 13, 2014 at San Saba Cemetery with Ponce Roach, Richard Vandeventer, and Shannon Bond officiating. Visitation will be Sunday evening from 5-10 p.m. (come & go) at Mary’s house in Cherokee. Arrangements are under the direction of Blaylock Funeral Home of San Saba. Bill was born on September 30, 1923 to W. L. "Brother" White and Vick White of San Saba. He graduated from SSHS then attended Tarleton State University briefly. Bill joined the U. S. Army and served stateside during WWII. After his military service, he obtained a degree from Texas A&M University. Bill moved to Houston, TX and where he met and married his life partner Betty Lumbley in 1949. Together they raised 3 children, moving to Friendswood TX in 1959 and living there until their retirement in 1991, at which time he moved to Cherokee, TX. During his working career he worked at Gulf Oil, the River Oaks Bank while in Houston, and then at the Houston Post and Wall Street Journal when living in Friendswood.
Bill is survived by his children, Mary Elizabeth White of Cherokee, Katherine Pepe of Newburgh, NY, and William “Spike” White of Round Rock; and grandchildren, Brandon White of Round Rock, Kevan Gerabagi of Colleyville, and David Gerabagi of Newburgh, NY.
