Willie P. Martens was born to William Martens and Mary Kleb Martens in Rose Hill, Texas on August 29, 1921, one of seven children. Willie was married to his late wife Dorothy Walker Martens for 67 years. He and Dorothy raised two sons, Don and Roger. He is also survived by daughter-in-law Sue; grandchildren Nathan Martens and Lindsay Canright, Wendy and Quinn Wiseman, Matthew and Heather Martens; great-grandchildren Cooper and Norah Wiseman, Aldous and Ivy Martens. He also leaves niece Beatrice Uhl and husband Herbert; brother Edwin Martens and wife Mary; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Willie was a graduate of Texas A&M University, earning a degree in Chemical Engineering. He spent his career with Lubrizol Corp., where co-workers became lifelong friends.

Willie served our country honorably during WWII, earning the rank of 1st Lieutenant. He piloted the B-24 Liberator over the Pacific for the Army Air Corp (now known as the USAF) forming a bond with his crew that continues on through generations as a member of the 5th Bombardment Group (H), 31st Squadron.
Willie and Dorothy spent their adult lives as devoted members of Zion Lutheran Church, Pasadena, TX, raising their family and building a community of friends there.

What can you say about a man who is so loved and well-respected? He has exemplified every good quality a human being can possess. This is how he has lived the 96 years of his life – with faith, humility, kindness, gentle humor and wit, gratitude, respectfulness and love. We are going to miss him terribly.
We can not thank enough the loving and caring staff at his assisted living home at Colonial Oaks at Vista, Pasadena, TX, as well as those representing Grace Hospice.

As Willie has said, "God is good. God is merciful. God is a powerful God." Amen

Funeral services will be held on Saturday November 11, 2017 at Zion Lutheran Church 5050 East Sam Houston Pkwy S, Pasadena, TX 77505. Visitation will be at 11:00AM and service at 11:30AM. A reception will follow at the church, and interment will take place at 2:00PM at Forest Park Lawndale.
