ROBERT A. LEE

August 16, 1934 - October 8, 2017

Robert A. “Bob” Lee, DVM, age 83 of Atlanta, GA passed away peacefully Sunday, October 8, 2017. Dr. Lee was born August 16, 1934, in Houston, Texas to Chester and Mary Lee. He graduated from Lamar High School in 1952 and from his beloved Texas A&M in 1958 with a degree in Veterinary Medicine serving as Secretary of the Junior Class in 1955. After graduation, Dr. Lee enlisted in the United States Army, eventually retiring from the Army Reserves with the rank of Captain. He began private practice in 1961 and practiced as a veterinarian for 53 years until his retirement in 2009. During that time he was elected President of the Georgia Academy of Veterinary Practice and the Greater Atlanta Veterinary Society for a term and served on their Board of Directors. He received numerous service awards from both institutions during his practice. He was a member of the North DeKalb Rotary Club where he was a recipient of The Georgia Rotary Student Program and Hue Thomas, Jr. Fellow Awards in 2001. He, also served on the founding Board of Directors for Pearls Of Grace TheCORE Youth Leadership, Knoxville. He was a member of Dunwoody Baptist Church and the Share Sunday School Class. Dr. Lee is preceded in death by his parents, Chester and Mary Lee. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Patsy Lee; sons, William Lee and David Lee (Sue Ann); daughters, Deborah Godfrey (Jeff), Sheree Blackstock, and Katherine Hartsook Wright; daughter-in-law, Chris Lee; brother, Larry Lee (Lucille); Pallbearers-grandchildren, Jared, Matthew, and Sean Lee, Laramie Kersey, Kassidie Blackstock, Sarah-Katherine Wright (Philip), Colleen Wilson (Dustin), Haley Blackstock (Gabe), Leia Blackstock
(Richard), Margaret-Grace Sisson (Garrison), Peyton Blackstock, and Anne-Constance Wright ( Peyton); great grandchildren, Laicee Kersey, Lilly Belle Wilson, and Garland Collins. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, October 21, 2017 at 11:00 A.M., Dunwoody Baptist Church Chapel, Atlanta, Georgia. The Reverend Brenda Russell and the Reverend Doctor Allen Jackson will be officiating. A reception service will follow in Anderson Hall. Graveside services will be held on Sunday, October 22, 2017 at 2:00 P.M., Asbury Cemetery, 5100 Asbury Cemetery Road, Knoxville, TN 37914. The Reverend Doctor Bryan A. Wilson will be officiating. A reception will follow at 4:00 P.M., Grace Presbyterian Church, 1610 Midpark Rd, Knoxville, TN 37921.
