John Pattison Tatum
July 23, 1947 - October 26, 2017
John Pattison Tatum passed away peacefully at age 70 on October 26, 2017, due to unexpected complications following cancer treatment. John was born on July 23, 1947, in Houston, Texas, to John Richard and Corrie Pattison Tatum. He graduated from high school in Pattison, Texas, before attending Texas A&M University where he was a proud member of Company E-2, Class of '69. After serving in Vietnam, he worked with his father at Boggs & Tatum retiring after 46 years.
John loved hunting and spending time with his family at their ranch in Carrizo Springs, raising cattle, and supporting the Royal High School FFA. He was a former member of the Board of Directors of the Texas Wildlife Association, and a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Pattison. He cherished his Aggie years and the lifelong friends he made there.
John is survived by his wife Patsy, daughter Stephanie and husband, Dustin Abshire, son John Pattison Tatum, Jr. and wife, Brittany, son James Michael Tatum and wife, Rachel, and daughter Tricia and husband, Michael Gillespie, and step-son: James Saunders and wife, Tiffany. He is further survived by his adoring grandchildren Matthew Abshire, Addison Tatum, Jackson, Trenten and Hudson Saunders, and his mother Corrie Pattison Tatum, his sisters Susanne Tatum and Mary Jane Ruble, as well as his mother-in-law Betty Sobrino and brother-in-law Victor Sobrino of San Antonio.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in John's name to M.D. Anderson Cancer Center @ www.mdanderson.org.
