Martin "Marty" Thomas Leonard
October 31, 1942 - September 7, 2017

Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 11, 2017 at 11:00 AM in Martin & Castille's La Fleur de Lis Chapel in Lafayette for Martin "Marty" T. Leonard, age 74, who died at 2:00 AM on Thursday, September 7, 2017 at his residence in Lafayette.

Reverend Howard Blessing, Pastor of Holy Cross Catholic Church will conduct the funeral services.

Survivors include his "bride" of 25 years, Jean Hebert Leonard; four daughters, Pamela Leonard, Jennifer Leonard Berry, Cynthia Leonard and Tammy Begue and her husband Bart; four sons, Greg Leonard, Matthew Leonard and his wife Melissa, Todd Hebert and his wife Belina and Tracy Hebert and his wife Enjoli; eleven grandchildren; two brothers Edward Leonard and his wife Sandy and Jack Leonard.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Martin Leonard and the former Evaleen Whitby.

Marty was born on October 31, 1942 in The Bronx, New York and was a resident of Lafayette, Louisiana for many years. Marty received a scholarship to play football at Texas A&M and graduated in Industrial Technology in 1966. He worked in management in the oilfield for over 45 years. He was a true Yankee, Aggie, and Cajun. Marty was a leader who cared for the well being of all the people that he worked with. He was a member of Red's Health Club for forty years and went swimming at 3:00 AM on every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. He was a man of high character, he was known to treat everyone with the utmost respect. He loved people especially his family and friends. Marty loved to laugh and you could rarely escape a conversation without hearing one of his many jokes... even if you heard it before.

The family requests that visitation be observed in Martin & Castille's SOUTHSIDE location on Monday from 9:00 AM until time of service.

A heartfelt appreciation is extended by the Leonard family to Michael Lejeune, Dr. Brierre and Dr. Schoffler for their loving care and friendship over the years.
