Lieutenant Colonel, retired, William Cullom Shepard passed into his heavenly home September 3, 2017. Although he was born in Kansas City, Missouri, Bill grew up in San Antonio where he graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School. He attended Texas A&M University
where he graduated in 1954 with a degree in Journalism. Bill was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in the US Army at that time and served 20 years which included tours in Germany, Hawaii, Vietnam, and Korea. During this time he and his first wife Barbara had
three children. After retiring from the Army in 1974, Bill lived in Washington DC and had several varied careers. He opened a public relations business with many clients including the US Marine Corps Band, Congressmen, and international dignitaries. Upon deciding
to leave the DC area, he was drawn back to Texas and joined up with a friend to mine gold in Mexico. That didn't pan out. In 1990 Bill acquired his real estate license. He made his real estate home at Coldwell Banker in San Antonio, where he met Shirley Davis.
Their friendship grew into love, and they married on Christmas Eve in 1994. He was her Prince Charming. Bill and Shirley made beautiful music together, singing in several different church choirs and finally landing at the Country Church in Marion. Bill is
preceded in death by his parents William and Helen Shepard and his sister Rosemary Tinsman. Bill is survived by his son Mark and Mark's wife Sarah, grandchildren Elizabeth Morris and Katie Rue, and great-granddaughter Jacqueline Morris; son Matt Shepard and
his partner Jimmy; and daughter Susan. He is also survived by his wife Shirley and her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, whom he dearly loved, and many dear friends.
