Garland Reed Albritton
October 15, 1925 ~ December 22, 2008 (age 83)

Garland Reed Albritton died Monday, December 22, 2008 in Graham, Texas at the age of 83. A Celebration of Reed's life is scheduled for 2:00 PM on Sunday, December 28, 2008 at First United Methodist Church in Graham, Texas with Rev. Dave Treat, Chaplain of Graham Regional Hospice officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Morrison Funeral Home.
Reed was born in Powell, Texas on October 15, 1925 to Minor Reed Albritton and Beatrice Westbrook Albritton and was raised in Kerens, Texas.
Reed was proud and honored to have served his country as a U.S. Marine and was assigned to the 6th Division, 15th Battalion during the entire attack on Okinawa. Following the war, Reed married Rosanne Foster on July 25, 1947 in Bryan, Texas. He graduated from Texas A&M University in 1951 with a degree in Petroleum Engineering. Reed began his engineering career in Midland, Texas, where he formed partnerships with Hugh Meyer and Bob Dean, later becoming Remuda Oil and Gas. He lived in Midland for 27 years, Sonora for 17 years and then retired to Sunrise Beach in 1988. Reed and Rosanne moved to Graham in 2006 to be closer to their children and grandchildren.
Reed was totally devoted to his family and friends. He adored his granddaughters; they were the light of his life. He was preceded in death by his parents, Minor and Beatrice Albritton, three brothers, William, Kelly, and Posey Albritton. He leaves many friends and family to carry on his memory including his wife of 62 years, Rosanne, daughter, Dana Albritton, son, Brint Albritton and wife Julie, all of Graham, twin granddaughters, Kelley Albritton, of Fort Worth, and Shannon Albritton of Austin, one brother, Gayle Albritton of Waco and several nieces and nephews....and his granddog, Gus.
