Francis "Jr" Eugene Vacek
(April 24, 1942 - March 2, 2014)

Francis Eugene “Jr.” Vacek, age 71 of East Bernard died Sunday morning, March 2, 2014 at a Katy hospital following a lengthy illness. He was born on April 24, 1942 in East Bernard, a son of the late Frank J and Matilda Klekar Vacek. Jr. was a raised in East Bernard and graduated from East Bernard High School. He was a Class of ’65 graduate of Texas A&M University with a degree in Range Science. Jr. married Patricia “Pat” Dahlquist on April 24, 1966 in East Bernard. He was the owner operator of Vacek Butane in East Bernard for 45 years. Self-taught and always playing just by ear, he enjoyed music. Whenever given the chance, Jr. loved playing polka music on his favorite accordion, and also the piano for his family and friends. His hobbies included raising cattle, fishing and hunting, as well as playing dominos and Tarocks. Jr. could argue with the best, but whenever needed, he was always there to help. He was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church in East Bernard, Knights of Columbus, and KJT. Jr. was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Yvonne Janecek. Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Pat Vacek of East Bernard, daughter, Connie Jordan and husband, Eddie of McKinney, sons, Rudy Vacek and wife, Tyna, Kenneth Vacek and girlfriend, Andrea Henry, and Jeff Vacek all of East Bernard, sister, Kathy Kresta and husband, Jimbo of East Bernard, brothers, August Vacek and wife, Liz and Tommy Vacek and wife, Donna both of East Bernard and brother in law, Charles Janecek of East Bernard. Jr. will also be missed by his grandchildren, Haley and Taylor Jordan, Brent, Zachary, and Rylee Vacek and Valori Prazak, along with many other family members and friends. Following cremation, memorial services will be held at Holy Cross Catholic Church on Saturday, March 8, 2014 at 2 pm with Rev. Donald Ruppert officiating. Visitation with the family begins at 12:30 pm Saturday at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice. Funeral services were under the direction of the Wharton Funeral Home..
