Allan Neale Pritchard
April 27, 1940 - July 30, 2017

Allan Neale Pritchard went to be with his Heavenly Father on July 30, 2017 in Huntsville, Texas. He was born to E.M. and Mary Pritchard on April 27, 1940 in Brownwood, Texas. As a young boy, he was very involved in Boy Scouts. After joining Troop #43 in 1952, he obtained the rank of Eagle Scout in 1955 and then volunteered at Camp Billy Gibbons during the summer as a camp counselor. After graduating from Brownwood High School in 1958, he attended Texas A&M University in College Station, where he played the trumpet in the Aggie Corp Marching Band and joined the ROTC. Allan received a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering and Bachelor of Business Administration in 1962. After college, he was commissioned with the United States Army and worked his way up to the rank of Captain, eventually serving as a medivac helicopter pilot in Vietnam. While in the military, he met the love of his life, Earline Hensarling. They were married on July 17, 1965 and celebrated their 52nd wedding anniversary two weeks before his passing. Following in his fathers’ footsteps, Allan worked for Texas Department of Transportation until he retired with 40 years of service in 2003. He began as Assistant Resident Engineer and then Resident Engineer in Huntsville. The last 10 years of his career he served as Director of Operations in the Bryan District office.

Anybody that knew Allan recognized his true passions in life were his Lord, his family, his church and his community. He was a deacon at First Baptist Church, Huntsville and served on many committees. He had a beautiful tenor voice and sang in the sanctuary choir, as well as the Mens Community Choir in Huntsville. Allan was a loving husband, dedicated father and cherished “Pops” – a sweet and gentle family man. We will forever remember family vacations traveling, tent camping and trips to the beach and mountains. He was always involved in activities with his children, from scouting to music to sports. During the time his son was in scouts, he served as Assistant Scoutmaster for Boy Scout Troop #114 in Huntsville. Allan was an avid golfer and also enjoyed birdwatching and woodworking. Always wanting to give back and help others, he was a blood donor for over 30 years. Most recently, he spent many hours volunteering at HEARTS Veterans Museum. He touched many lives and will not be forgotten.

Left to cherish his memory is wife, Earline; son Michael Pritchard and wife, Keiko of Yokohama, Japan; daughter Jennifer Sliva and husband, Donald of Tomball, TX; grandchildren Ashley and Abby Pritchard, Tanner and Sydney Sliva; sister Marilyn Wells of Palo Alto, CA; sister-in-law Dorothy Messer and husband, Keith of Kent, WA; and sister-in-law Liz Henson of Round Rock, TX. Also surviving are nieces and nephews: Stacey Wells, Adam Wells, Andy Foster and wife, Laura; Leigh Webb and husband, David; Kyle Henson and wife, Michelle; Donna Corley and husband, Nathan. He was preceded in death by his parents and in-laws, Earl and Vivian Hensarling.

The family would like to express our heartfelt thanks to Dr. Lawrence Wells and his staff at Huntsville Family Medicine for their wonderful care of Allan. Visitation will be Tuesday, August 15, 2017 from 6 – 8 pm at Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home in Huntsville. Celebration of Life service will be Wednesday, August 16, 2017, 10am at First Baptist Church in Huntsville. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery, Adickes Addition.
