November 22, 1922 - July 17, 2017
Clarence Oscar Dube, M.D. passed away on Monday, July 17, 2017 in Houston, Texas at the age of 94. He is survived by his son Mark Dube and wife Lesa, son Jason Dube and wife Terri, Grandchildren: Matthew Bohot, Kyle White, Spencer White, Randle Browning and husband Ted, Dakota Dube and fiancé Jessica, Mark Dube, Jr. and fiancé Kendall, Madison Dube, Adam Dube, Joshua Dube, Emily Dube, Cheyenne Dube and Savannah Dube; Step-grandchildren: Cory Condrey and wife Ashley, and John Lowe; Great grandchild, Grayson Enstad; numerous nieces and nephews, and his sister Frances Dube Miller. He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty, and daughters, Paula Bohot and Cynthia White.
Visitation will be at Heights Funeral Home, 1317 Heights Blvd., Houston, TX 77008 on Friday, July 21, 2017 from 5 p.m. – 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held at Heights Funeral Home at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 22, interment will follow at Brookside Memorial Park, 13747 Eastex Fwy., Houston, TX 77039. A reception will follow the burial at Brookside.
Clarence was born November 22, 1922 in The Grove, Texas to William and Martha Dube. He was baptized at St. Paul Lutheran Church, The Grove, Texas on December 3, 1922 and confirmed in the Lutheran faith on April 5, 1936. His Confirmation Verse is Acts 4:12 – "Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved."
He attended school in The Grove and Belton, finishing high school at Concordia Lutheran College in Austin. Clarence was class of 1944 at Texas Agricultural & Mechanical College. He was commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant after his junior year and served as a paratrooper during WWII. Following the war, he completed his studies at A&M and graduated with a degree in Animal Husbandry. Thereafter he entered pharmacy school at the University of Texas, received his pharmacy degree in 1948, and worked as a pharmacist in Houston for several years.
Clarence entered Medical School at the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston in 1959. Following graduation in 1963, he established a successful medical practice in north-east Houston. He was co-founder of Houston Northwest Medical Center where he moved his practice in 1973. He closed his private practice in 1998, but continued practicing medicine as locum tenums and finally as attending physician at area LTAC Hospitals in their hyperbaric wound care centers until fully retiring in 2009. Throughout his career he touched many many lives. Clarence loved sports, including all the Houston professional teams, but even more so, his beloved Fightin' Texas Aggies. He was team doctor for MacArthur High School for many years. Clarence was an avid hunter and travelled extensively.
He was an active member of his church, Immanuel Lutheran in the Houston Heights. Clarence regularly supported charitable organizations including the Spring Tri-Club and Junior League of North Harris County. He was a member of the American Medical Association, Harris County Medical Society, Lyons Club, Former Students Association Century Club, Corps of Cadets Association, Twelfth Man Foundation, and many more civic and charitable organizations.
Clarence was a man of strong Christian faith, and thus we know he is saved by grace through faith. Brothers and sisters, we do not want you to be uninformed about those who sleep in death, so that you do not grieve like the rest of mankind, who have no hope. For we believe that Jesus died and rose again, and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him. 1 Thessalonians 4: 13-14.
