Harold Douglas Tschirhart
August 2, 1926 - July 28, 2017
Harold Douglas Tschirhart, born August 2, 1926, passed away on July 28, 2017 at the age of 90. Harold graduated from Texas A & M, class of 1947, and he has remained a faithful Aggie throughout his life. He had donated 150 acres of land to Texas A & M University gaining his membership in the Legacy Society. Harold remained an active and proud member until his death.
He was also a science teacher at Marion High School for many years. His goal was to promote further education for his students and beyond. Harold is the founder of the Marion Education Foundation. He is one of the five committee members who began Green Valley Water, servicing more territory than San Antonio. He is a principal in the development of Bandit Golf Course. He will always be remembered as being loving and serving.
Harold is preceded in death by his parents, Alta Hileman Tschirhart and Allen Tschirhart; brother, Wilbert Tschirhart; brother-in-law: Alfred (Lucky) Vorpahl; step-son, Thomas Shaffer. He is survived by his loving wife Hattie Tschirhart; brother, Leonard Tschirhart and wife Elizabeth; sisters: Norma Tschirhart Vorpahl and Jan Tschirhart Uptmore and Husband Jim; sister-in-law, Jo Barbara Tschirhart; step children, BA Nicholas and Cappy Davidson, Jimmy Kinerd, Christopher Kinerd and Faye Kinerd; grandchildren, Tracy Beach, Stacy Beach Ricks, Asa Luby Beach, Kora Kinerd, Colby Kinerd, Mathew Kinerd, Cole Halton, Slate Kinerd and Saxon Kinerd; 7 great grandchildren; 28 Loving Nieces and Nephews.
A Visitation will be held from 4:00PM-8:00PM on Wednesday, August 2, 2017 at the Schertz Funeral Home Chapel. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30AM on Thursday, August 3, 2017 at St. James Catholic Church in Seguin, with a Rosary being recited immediately before at 10:00AM. A Reception will take place at the church after Mass, and graveside services will follow at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery in San Antonio.
