Dr. Dale Ray Crockett
Born: July 27, 1965
Died: July 27, 2017
Location: San Antonio, Texas

Dr. Dale Ray Crockett passed away suddenly on July 27, 2017, at the age of 52. Born in Frankfurt, Germany, in 1965, he was the second son of William and Barbara Crockett. Dale graduated high school from Garfield Senior High in Woodbridge, Virginia, in 1983, where he played the saxophone and served as senior drum major of the marching band. He then went to Texas A&M University, joining the ranks of the Fightin' Texas Aggie Band. There he rose to the position of head drum major, graduating with a degree in Biology in 1987. He continued his schooling at the Texas A&M Medical School, eventually specializing in emergency medicine. Dale served as a physician in the United States Army for ten years, with tours in Washington, D.C., the United Nations peacekeeping force in the Sinai, and Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas. After his tour in the Army, Dale worked as an emergency room physician in the Methodist hospital system.
Dale was a passionate sports fan, particularly devoted to the Baltimore Orioles, the Dallas Cowboys, and the San Antonio Spurs. He dreamed of one day visiting every Major League Baseball ballpark in the country. He also loved the outdoors, making annual family trips to Colorado for skiing. He was a lifelong dog lover, owning a variety of breeds from German shepherds to Irish setters to generic mutts. Dale had a strong Christian faith and was an active member of Community Bible Church for over twenty years.
He is survived by his parents, William R. Crockett II and Barbara Crockett; children, Lindsay Crockett, Brady Crockett, Benjamin Crockett, and Ryan Crockett; brother, David Crockett and family; sister, Tammy Pfaff and family; fiancée, Liz Zapata Camacho, whom he became engaged to in 2017. Dale was married to Susan Olsta from 1990 to 2012. He will be profoundly missed by all who knew him. The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m., Monday, August 7, 2017, at Porter Loring Mortuary North.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are requested for the American Heart Association, 8415 Wurzbach Rd, San Antonio, TX 78229 or the American Cancer Society, 8115 Datapoint Dr, San Antonio, TX 78229.
