John Thomas Schmidt(1935 - 2017)
SCHMIDT, John Thomas John Thomas Schmidt, age 81 of Plano, Texas passed away on Thursday, July 20, 2017 at his residence. John was born August 20, 1935 in Gladewater, Texas. He is one of seven children born to Hiram and Susie Schmidt. He attended Texas A&M University, class of 1957 and was a member of the 12th Man Foundation and Aggie Die Hard Club. He is preceded in death by Patricia, his wife of 55 years and their son, John Thomas Schmidt, Jr. "Jack", age 20, and his brother Jack Schmidt and sisters Betty Sue Schmidt and Shirley Jackson. He is survived by his daughter, Lisa Schmidt of Hickory Creek, TX and son, Shannon Paul Schmidt and wife Kristie and their three children, Claire, Jennifer and John of Plano, Texas. He is also survived by his siblings Robert (Bob) Schmidt of Carrolton, Susie Jo Beebe and husband Sam of Meridian, TX and Andy Schmidt and wife Lourdes of Denver, CO. His favorite past times were spending time with his 3 grandchildren, golfing, fishing and attending Aggie football games. He is a member of the Toler Senior Day Care Golf Group and golfed weekly up until his passing. He has been an avid Plano Wildcats Football Fan since 1976. In lieu of flowers, please give gifts to the charity of your choice. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 25, 2017 from 6 to 8 PM at the Ted Dickey West Funeral Home, located at 7990 George Bush Turnpike, Dallas, TX 75252. His funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 26, 2017 at 10:00 AM at Custer Road United Methodist Church, located at 6601 Custer Road, Plano, Texas 75023.
