Susan Lucile Bains Archer was born November 14, 1954, and passed away July 11, 2017, at Memorial Herman Hospital in Memorial City.
Susan was born in Brookshire, Texas, graduating with honors from Royal High School in 1973. Susan was her Daddy's girl, enjoying the outdoors, horseback riding and helping on the ranch. She furthered her education at A&M, where she earned a BS in Elementary Education. It was there that she met and married her soulmate and constant protector, Larry Archer. Susan taught in many schools, but considered Royal, and the Brookshire/Pattison community her home. She was a passionate and compassionate teacher, endearing her students, many of whom became lifelong friends.

She always referred to her beloved son, Greg, as her miracle child. His phone calls and visits were her delight. She embraced travel and enjoyed making friends during their foreign assignments in Singapore, Australia, and London. She was proud to have taught in the American School in Singapore, and she continued to nurture the many friendships she formed there and across the globe.

Susan is preceded in death by her loving parents, Whitt and Ramona Bains, of Brookshire, and by Larry's parents, Martha and Bill Archer, of Austin. She is survived by devoted husband Larry, loving son Greg, and his wife Ryane, and the apple of her eye, grandson Bryce. She also claimed Briana and Brandon Diaz as her bonus grandchildren. Other family include her cherished sisters and brothers-in-law, Anna & Jim Maxwell, Lynn & Frank Pyle, Janet & John Davis, Penny & John Strange and sister-in-law, Cindy Archer & Natalie Feggestad. She also leaves behind a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family wishes to extend special thanks to Susan's many faithful doctors and nurses, especially Dr. B. K. Roy, Internist, and Dr. Rajen Mehta, Cardiologist. They treated her professionally and with kindness and compassion for 20 years and she loved them.

Visitation for Susan will be conducted at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home on Monday, July 17th from 6 pm until 8 pm. Funeral services will continue Tuesday, July 18 at 10 am in the Chapel of Memorial Oaks Funeral Home. The graveside service will be private.
