Richard "Dick" Carroll Thomas
September 30, 1934 ~ June 28, 2017 (age 82)

Richard “Dick” Carroll Thomas, 82, of Sulphur Springs went to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, June 28, 2017 in Sulphur Springs. Graveside services celebrating Dick’s life will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Monday, July 3, 2017 at Restlawn Memorial Park in Sulphur Springs with Reverend James Diamond officiating, under the direction of Ingram Funeral Home in Quinlan

Dick was born on September 30, 1934 in Banquete, Texas. He is the son of the late Henry Thomas and Harvey Humphries Thomas. He was raised and educated in Banquete, Texas. He went on to obtain his Bachelor’s Degree and Master’s Degree from Texas A&M. Later he obtained his Doctorate Degree from Iowa State University. He honorably served in the United States Army. Dick married the former Miss Patricia Ann Cocke on May 30, 1963 and they were married for 53 years prior to her passing on December 12, 2016. He worked as a Beef Cattle Specialist for Texas A&M in College Station for 12 years. In 1980, he moved to Sulphur Springs and worked as the General Manager for Northeast Texas Farm Co-op where he retired in 2002. He was a member of Cedar Crest Christian Church in Sulphur Springs where he served on the Board of Trustees. He enjoyed hunting, golf, exercising and studying the Bible.

He is loved and will be missed by his daughters Stacy Vititow and husband Robert of Emory, Lesley Ann Chambless and husband Chris of Dallas; brother William Thomas and wife JoNell of Portland, Oregon; sister Mary Ruth Belote of Houston; 4 grandchildren Danielle, Jennifer, Andrew and Johnathan.
