Grady Winford Barr
June 30, 1936 - June 19, 2017

Services for Grady Winford Barr, 80, of Tyler, will be held on, Saturday, June 24, 2017, at 2:00 PM at Stewart Family Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Glenn Jones officiating. Visitation is scheduled one hour prior to service from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM.
Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Cemetery in Tyler under the direction of Stewart Family Funeral Home.
Mr. Barr passed away Monday, June 19, 2017 in Tyler.
He was born June 30, 1936 in Snyder, Texas to Leslie and Maurene Tate Barr.
Grady was a member of Green Acres Baptist Church. He attended Texas A&M. Grady served 26 years in the US Army and retired as a Colonel, while serving he received several awards and decorations, which included the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal with 3 oak clusters, the Army Commendation Medal, the Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry and the Combat Infantry Badge. Grady held the position of Full Colonel with The United States Army Air Defense Division. In addition to Grady’s distinguished military career he was also an outstanding family man and committed to his church family. He was very strong in his conviction for his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Grady was preceded in death by his wife, Letha Fay Barr, his brother, David Barr and sister, Nelda Thomas.
He is survived by his loving family including his son, Leslie Randall Barr and wife Tracey; daughters, Rhonda Carol Barney and husband Roger and Shelly Dianne Barr along with seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be James Hubbard, Brian Meyer, John Childs, Randy Phillips, David Harwood and Austin Barney.
Honorary pallbearers will be the Friendship Sunday school class.
If desired, memorials may be made to American Breast Cancer Society in Grady’s name, 1301 S. Broadway, Tyler, TX 75701.
