Don B Calhoun, Jr.
July 10, 1927 - May 08, 2017

Don B Calhoun, Jr., 89, passed away May 8, 2017 in Burlington, Ks.


A long-time resident of Burlington, he had resided in The Lifecare Center the past several years.


Don was born in Ft Scott, Kansas on July 10, 1927, to Donald and Dorothy Calhoun, Sr. After graduating from Emporia High School, he went on to earn a degree at Texas A&M University. He enlisted in the Navy during World War II, serving in the Pacific. He was married to Patricia Ann Nevins on February 18, 1950, in Emporia. She was the love of his life.


He enjoyed a long and successful career in the animal nutrition business, working for Cargill in the Midwest for over 3 decades before retiring. He was an avid golfer, a wonderful husband and a devoted father and grandfather. He was a great fan of sports and young people and for many years was a fixture at Burlington athletic events. He was blessed with a wonderful disposition and keen sense of humor. He will be deeply missed by his family.


Don is survived by his son Rick Calhoun (Deb) of Silver Spring, MD., grandchildren Blake Calhoun (Steph), Paducah, KY, and Casey Omang (Curtis) , Overland Park, KS., and one great grandchild, William Calhoun. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Patricia, and son, Dr. Mike Calhoun.


A gathering of family and friends will occur later to celebrate his wonderful life. Contributions may be made to your local Junior Golf Programs.
