Paul Alvah Rathbun – March 21, 2017
Paul Alvah Rathbun, 82, of Amarillo, died Tuesday, March 21, 2017.
Memorial services will be at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, March 25, 2017, in Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel with Rev. Elaine Besthorn officiating. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.
Mr. Rathbun was born September 6, 1934, in Denver, Colo. He attended Texas A & M University, graduating in 1956, with a BBA. Mr. Rathbun attended A&M on a scholarship from the Lumbermen’s Association of Texas.
Mr. Rathbun spent 10 years in the retail building materials industry and 27 years as vice president and investment advisor for Merrill Lynch in Amarillo, Texas. He was the son of Kathleen Richards and nephew of Mr. and Mrs. Grady Stubbs of Amarillo. Paul believed that faith in God gives meaning and purpose to life and that service to humankind is the best work of life.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 60 years, Elizabeth Dinwiddie Rathbun; a son, Robert and wife Leslie; two daughters, Ann and Amy; and two grandsons, Tyler and wife Tifanie, and Eric.
The family suggest memorials be to St. Luke Presbyterian Church, 3001 Bell Street, Amarillo, Texas 79106; or a favorite charity.
