James Michael Grimes, 65, passed away suddenly in an accident on Monday, May 23, 2016 in Madison County, Texas. Mike was born on April 26, 1951 to Jay and Maurine Grimes in Jacksonville and raised in Tyler, Texas. In 1978, he married the love of his life, Pam Muras of Houston. Together, they raised their two sons, Justin and Adam, in the Sageglen community. Mike was passionate in all he did and lived his life to the fullest. He was active in the Sagemont Beverly Hills Little League as a coach and volunteer for both of his boys. In the 1980's and 1990's, Mike owned and operated a landscaping and janitorial business serving the South Belt Area. Later in his career, Mike worked as a landman in East Texas and most recently as a facility director at Strake Jesuit Retreat & Learning Center in Leona, Texas. Mike was a dedicated family man and will be immensely missed by all who were lucky enough to have known him.
Mike is survived by his wife, Pam of Huntsville; his sons, Justin Grimes and wife Brittany of League City, and Adam Grimes and wife Sarah of Houston; sister Jan Matise of Dallas; brother Larry Grimes and wife Debbie of Colleyville, Texas; and numerous other relatives and friends.
The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00am Friday, May 27, at St. Luke the Evangelist Catholic Church in Houston, Texas.
Mike was a very generous and caring man. In lieu of flowers, we ask that you honor of his memory by donating to a in Mike's name.

Mike (J. Michael) Grimes '77 passed away May 23, 2016 from injuries he received in an accident. Born in Jacksonville, Texas, raised in nearby Tyler, Mike met is wife of 37 years, Pam (Muras) Grimes '78 at Texas A&M. They were blessed with two sons, Adam and Justin '06. The family lived in Houston, where Mike held various positions including starting a lawn and building maintenance company-Midcoast Service Company. He was a very involved dad, serving as coach for his sons' baseball and basketball teams. In 2006, Mike began a career in the oil and gas industry as a land man, leasing land throuout east and central Texas. At the time of his death, Mike was the caretaker of the Strake Jesuit Retreat and Leadership Center in Leona, Texas. He loved his job, and was very much appreciated by all who visited the center.

Mike and Pam enjoyed living on their farm full time since 2010, and were just starting a new venture raising registered longhorn cattle. After his death, his first grandchild, Jensen Michael was born to Justin and wife Brittany.

Mike loved God, and his family, and was always proud to be an Aggie. He shared his love of life, wisdom, and values with everyone he met. He is missed very much by all who loved him.
