Doyne Bernard Hamilton, 90, passed away peacefully, Thursday, January 19, 2017 at his home in Rockport, Texas, overlooking his beloved Copano Bay.
He was preceded in death by his best friend and love of his life, Betty, his wife of 44 years. He is survived by his 6 children, his son Steve and wife Deborah, and daughters, Kerry and husband Lynn, Cheryl and husband Billy, Donna and husband Bob, Janna and
husband George, Lisa and husband Tim. His grandchildren, Jennifer, Jamie, Julie, Joey, Shannon, Rachel, Jeff, Rebekah, Meredith, Worth, Matthew, Nathan and Thomas, as well as 15 great grandchildren, and a host of great friends and neighbors.
Doyne was born in Haskell, Oklahoma on Nov 1, 1926. He graduated from Texas A & M, College Station after serving in the U.S. Airforce during WWII. He graduated from Baylor Medical School. In 1951, after completing his medical residency, he moved to Robstown,
Texas where he opened a successful private practice. He always considered his medical practice as his greatest gift and adored being a family practice doctor.
Doyne loved spending time with his family and friends. He was an avid sportsman; including hunting, fishing, and he loved sports of all kinds, especially playing tennis. He had a keen mind and great talent for organizing both people and events.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, January, 23, 2017, at 10:00 a.m. at the Charlie Marshall Funeral Home in Rockport, Texas.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to the National Breast Cancer Foundation, Inc. at the donate.nationalbreastcancer.org. website.
