James Gordon Bain
February 02, 1930 - October 04, 2016

James Gordon (Jim) Bain
Born February 2, 1930 died October 4, 2016
Jim was born in Vivian, La. to Sadie Means and Gordon Nathan Bain. When Jim was a young child the family, which included sisters Betty and Jody, moved to Kilgore, Texas. Jim graduated Kilgore High where he excelled in four sports; baseball, football, track and basketball. Jim forged lasting friendships with his school mates, many of which existed until his last day on this earth. But the ultimate gift of his days in Kilgore was the chance to meet the love of his life, Patsy Dickson! Jim and Patsy married on February 3, 1951. In early 1953, Jim graduated Texas A & M College and the young couple moved to Magnolia, Arkansas where Jim started work as a mechanical engineer for Magnolia Oil Company. Patsy and Jim began their family with son, Dickson. Soon, they moved to the Valley Farm where, daughter Judy and son, Alan were born. Jim began life as a rancher and ranched until his death. The farm wasn’t all work, however. Jim spent many hours hunting, fishing and camping on the farm. He loved God’s great outdoors and loved sharing his corner of this world with family and friends!
Jim was active in the First Presbyterian Church of Ennis, serving in most every capacity possible. He was a member of the Ennis Texas A&M club, the Lions Club, served on the board of Citizens National Bank and volunteered with Boy Scouts of America.
Jim was predeceased by wife, Patsy, parents Sadie and Gordon and sister Jody. Jim is survived by sister, Betty, daughter Judy and husband Nick Wensowitch, son Dickson and wife Angie Bain, and son Alan and wife Linda Bain. Also surviving Jim are his adoring grandchildren; Mindy Minor, Lindley Bain and husband Jason Thumlert, Michael Minor and wife Adrianne Lese, James Bain, Jody Stilwell and husband Dustin and Katharine Weaver and husband Chase. The youngest generation loved by Papa and who loved him are great grandchildren, Ella, Lily, Hazel and Willa.
Jim left this world on Patsy’s birthday, his last and most precious gift, joining her in heaven to celebrate a blessed life. All who knew Jim Bain knew a loving, kind and generous soul. His many friends and devoted family will miss him dearly.

Visitation will be Friday, October 7, 2016 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. in the J.E. Keever Mortuary of Ennis.
