John Paul Keelan

Birth: Sep. 28, 1920
Death: Aug. 21, 1984

1/Lt. John P. Keelan was the pilot of the B-17 "Happy Daze" which went down in the North Sea July 25, 1943. Pilot Keelan got all his crew out of the plane and into life rafts. The waist gunner drowned after he was out of the plane because he lost his life vest. All other crew members survived. After their rescue, he and several of his crew were interviewed by Morgan Beatty of NBC radio from London on July 31, 1943.
