Patrick William (Pat) Everett passed away at his home on Monday, Nov. 21, 2016 of complications from diabetes. He was born Sept. 25, 1951, the son of Allan A. and Willie Lee Everett.

Pat was a lifelong resident of Menard County. He attended Menard schools, where he participated in football, FFA and 4-H. He attended Tarleton University and graduated with an agriculture degree from Texas A&M.

Pat's life centered on all things ranch-related. He began at an early age helping his grandfather on the Walston ranch, south of Menard. He assumed responsibility for the operation when ownership passed to his mother. He helped manage the Noguess ranch when his friend and mentor Jacques Noguess passed way. He later took on the Bill Menzies place and the Vernon Crawford place for those families.

Pat's personal calling was to befriend and help family, friends, and all animals large and small. His hired ranch hands always became good friends. He nurtured a pet bull, a herd of tame deer, a bunch of cottontail rabbits, and an ever-present gang of border collie dogs. He was a constant presence and faithful son in his mother's life. For the past four years, he went into town twice a day for lunch and supper to be sure his mother had a good meal to eat.

For community service, Pat was implemental in organizing the Menard EMS and served as president from 1983 to 2012. He raised club lambs that won top prizes for young 4-H'ers across the state. He was active with water and land management and livestock breeding. He operated a hunting lodge with guided hunts for top grade bucks at the Menzies home place. Some of his hunters joked that they would book a hunt just for four days of Pat's great cooking.

Pat was preceded in death by his father Allan, his grandparents W.R and Agnes Walston of Menard County and Audley and Gladys Everett of Burnet County.

Left to treasure his memory and his impact on our lives are his mother Willie Lee Everett of Menard, son William Luke Everett and wife Brittany of San Angelo, sister Carolyn Glossbrenner of San Angelo, his constant companion border collie Son, and a host of family and friends.

Funeral services will be in Menard at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 26, at the First Baptist Church. Interment will be in Rest Haven Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials to Menard Junior Livestock Association, the First Baptist Church, the , or any favorite charitable organization.
