Born on July 2, 1931

JAMES A. MCCLANE

KARNES CITY - James A. McClane, 85, of Belton, Texas passed away on Wednesday, November 9, 2016, at his residence in Belton. James was born on July 2, 1931, in San Antonio, Texas to Eugenia Braden McClane and Sykes Sanford McClane, of Karnes City Texas. James grew up and lived in Karnes City for his first fifty years where he worked along with his father before taking over managing the family business, McClane Motor Co. and raising cattle on the family farm outside Kenedy Texas. Also while living in Karnes City, James was involved with and coached in Little League baseball and was Scout Master for the Boy Scouts for many years. James also served his community as Chairman of the School Board, the Rotary Club and the Lions Club. In 1981 James and his wife moved to Victoria Texas where he worked for several banks until he retired. James was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Karnes City and the 2nd Baptist Church in Victoria. James's strong faith in God and His son Jesus Christ lead him to be very involved with spreading the message of Jesus and taught Sunday school for many years. Also, James was an Army Veteran in the Korean Conflict and a graduate of Texas A&M University "Class of 53" Gig em Aggies.

Survivors include his sisters Dorthy McClane Pogue and Marie McClane, wife Peggy D. McClure McClane of Belton; children, Cathy Ellis and her husband Dr. Richard Ellis of Temple; James "Mac" McClane and his wife Irma of Karnes City, Rodney Johnson and his wife Shirley of Canton, Texas; grandchildren, Jennifer Moses, Randy Clark, Kaitlyn Ellis, Ashley Ellis, Lauren Ellis, Kristie McClane, Christopher Ramirez. James was proceeded in death by his sister Margret McClane Dyreson and daughter Cheri McClane Clyne.

Visitation and viewing will begin at 10:30 a.m. and services will begin at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, November 12, 2016 at Rhodes Funeral Home in Karnes City followed by grave side service at the Karnes City Cemetery. After services, family and friends will gather at First Baptist Church in Karnes City.

In lieu of flowers "Memorial Contributions" can be made to the Karnes County National Bank in the name of James A. McClane for various charities under his name and his Honor.
