William O. Lamprecht Jr.
October 10, 1941 - October 26, 2016

Lovingly known by students and friends as "Doc" Lamprecht was born to Bernice (Riley) and William O. "Dutch" Lamprecht of Taft, TX on October 10, 1941 in Corpus Christi, TX. He went to be with Our Lord on October 26, 2016 in hospice in Corpus Christi, TX. After graduating High School in Taft, TX he entered Texas A&M and earned a Bachelors Degree in Agronomy and continued his education to earn a Masters Degree in Statistics and finally a PhD in Plant Physiology. Doc found his home at the University of South Carolina Salkehatchie in 1972 and began his tenure teaching both Majors and Non-Majors courses in Biology at both the Allendale and Walterboro, SC campuses, and added additional courses in Genetics and Nutrition for Nurses. He was honored by winning "Teacher Of The Year" at Salkehatchie a record-holding 10 times. Doc lived for his students and teaching and felt fortunate that his tenure began while Salkehatchie was in its infancy. He often spoke of how proud he was to have been able to be a part of Salkehatchie while it was growing to be the fine institution it is today. Doc retired from Salkehatchie in 2007 with the title of, "Distinguished Professor Emeritus" and returned to Texas to begin the next chapter in his life with his wife, Sheri and step-son, John but the lives he touched, and that touched him, and Salkehatchie meant so much to him and remained in his heart until his passing.

Doc is survived by his wife of 10 years, Sheri (McLaughlin) Lamprecht of Taft, TX and daughters, Melinda Lamprecht of Orangeburg, SC; Allison (Danny) Tinnel of Hardeeville, SC; Step-son John Rogers of Taft and grandson, Tyler Tinnel of Hardeeville. Doc is also survived by JoAnn Lamprecht of Hampton, SC.
