David Donald Moehlman, Sr., 89, resident of Houston, Tx for over sixty-seven years went to be with the Lord on October 14, 2016.
Family and friends will gather for a visitation from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Friday, October 21st at Waltrip Funeral Directors, 1415 Campbell Road in Houston, where funeral services will be held in the chapel at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 22, 2016. A private family interment will follow at Forest Park Westheimer Cemetery.
David was born in Bryan, Tx to Heinrich Herman Wilhelm and Mille Caroline Henriette Friederike Bosse Moehlman on September 5, 1927. He graduated from Stephen F. Austin High School in Bryan in 1945. David was the President of his sophomore class and a Yell Leader his junior and senior class. He graduated from Texas A&M University in College Station, Tx in 1949 with a Civil Engineering degree. David then went to work for the City of Houston in 1949. He married Jean Deauquier Moehlman, of Bryan, Tx in July 1951. They settled in Houston where David was working for the City of Houston. In 1954 he was drafted by the U.S.Army for the Korean War, but he was fortunate to be stationed in Germany. After two years of service, David returned to work for the City and had three children with wife Jean; Celeste, Lynne and David Jr. After 35 years with City of Houston he retired as the Director of the Waste Water Department. He then worked for Binkley and Holmes Consulting Engineers for several years as a liaison for the firm and consultant for engineering work in and around Houston. David stayed active with engineering by serving for the City of Hedwig Village and serving on the Memorial Villages Water Authority Board. He also served as "Citizen on Patrol" for the Hedwig Village Police Department and was awarded Citizen of the year.
David was a faithful member of BridgePoint Bible Church for over 43 years where he was a deacon and usher for many years. Previously he was a member of Oak Forest Presbyterian Church and Pines Presbyterian Church.

David was an avid gardener. He loved to work in his yard and had a green thumb for growing beautiful flowers and fruit trees. David's prize accomplishment was a gazebo he built from scratch completely by himself in his backyard, where he sat spending many hours in enjoying the view of his beautiful yard. But by far David loved his family and Aggie football. He attended and supported Texas A&M football for over seventy five years. David loved to share Aggie football with his children, friends and grandchildren. And it's no surprise that all three of his children graduated from Texas A&M University. David, known as "Sweetie" to his grandchildren, instilled the need of education to all of them and those old enough to attend have graduated from Texas A&M University Corpus Christi, Louisiana State University, Baylor University, University of Virginia and Texas A&M University.
Preceding him in death are his parents and five brothers.
He is survived by his wife of sixty five years, Jean Deauquier Moehlman; Daughter, Celeste and husband Michael Bertirotti; Daughter Lynne and husband Jeff Voncannon; Son David Jr and wife Millicent Moehlman; Five granddaughters and four grandsons; Erica Bertirotti De La Garza, Colleen Bertirotti Acosta, Jacob Voncannon, Sarah Voncannon Conrad, Sam Voncannon, Hannah Voncannon, Tyler Moehlman, Madison Moehlman and Alex Moehlman; Two great granddaughters; Avery Jean De La Garza and Arden Claire Conrad. He is also survived by one Sister-in law Celeste and husband Roger Sater and many nieces and nephews.
