Michael Paul Britton(1942 - 2016)
August 4, 1942 - July 18, 2016
Michael Paul Britton departed this life on the 18th of July 2016. Michael met all the challenges in his life with the Fightin' Texas Aggie spirit, while entertaining and inspiring everyone that he knew. Michael was small in stature, but great in mind and a natural public speaker and teacher, beginning every new class by his standard phrase "yes, I AM standing up!" Michael had an unwavering and dedicated sense of loyalty to his family, his church and spirituality, and every company that he worked for. He was generous, sharing his time, knowledge and advice, and his light-hearted sense of humor. Michael was known for his witty and expressive nature - he never met a stranger. Michael was born on August 4, 1942 in San Antonio. He graduated from Central Catholic High School and then attended 4 years in the Corp of Cadets at Texas A&M University, graduating in 1964 with a degree in Business Administration. He was a proud Aggie all his life!

After college, Michael and his family lived in several cities in Texas, New Mexico and Louisiana, which afforded Michael the ability to meet many life-long friends. Since his heart was always in Texas, Michael subsequently returned to San Antonio with his family and started his own business, finally living his long-held dream of self-employment. Michael later left San Antonio, after his children were grown, to expand his career, living in Connecticut, Ohio, Utah, and California, where he transitioned to the role of teacher, thereby using his natural abilities and decades of business experience to assist others in their success. Michael was an inspiration to everyone that he worked with, most recently at Servpro in California where he mentored many and was held in high regard by all. Michael happily returned to San Antonio in 2015 for his retirement where he enjoyed spending time with his family and old friends. Michael loved classical music, theater, and the symphony. Michael was an avid sports fan and had an astonishing capacity for remembering sports statistics, particularly for his favorite Texas teams. Michael would be found on a Saturday afternoon watching 2 football games on 2 televisions simultaneously with the sound muted, while listening to a 3rd football game on the radio. Michael would easily drop everything to come to the aid of family and friends when asked. Michael's gregarious charm will be missed, and his enormous giving spirit will be remembered for generations. Michael is survived by three children who adored and will miss him terribly, Michele Britton Summerill and spouse Brian, Michael Paul Britton II and spouse Margaret "Meg", and Stephen Thomas Britton. Michael is also survived by brother Patrick Britton and sister Judy Britton Poston and her spouse Jimmy, and their daughters, Susan, Kathleen and Jennifer, and their children. Special thanks to Michael's many loyal friends who frequently visited him and provided him with laughter and joy. The family would also like to thank the staff at Changing Seasons who provided comfort and care to Michael during his last days.

A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, July 24, 2016 at 1:00 pm at Porter Loring North Chapel, 2102 North Loop 1604 East. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions made to Central Catholic High School.
