John Clanton
Born: March 3, 1933
Died: June 11, 2016
Location: Corpus Christi, Texas

John graduated from Corpus Christi High School in 1950. He received two bachelor degrees and a master's degree from Texas A&M University where he enrolled in the Corps of Cadets and subsequently served as an officer in the United States Army. John enjoyed a nearly sixty year career as a successful petroleum geologist in and around South Texas.
He was descended from the patriots who fought in the Revolutionary War. His ancestors also include early settlers of the Republic of Texas. He was a member of the Sons of the American Revolution and the Sons of the Republic of Texas.
John was a certified petroleum geologist, a licensed professional geoscientist, a member of the Corpus Christi Geological Society, the Society of Exploration Geophysicists, the Exploration Managers, the Society of Independent Professional Earth Scientists, and the American Association of Petroleum Geologists.
He was a long time member of the First Christian Church.
John is survived by his loving wife of over 40 years, Mary, his children: John, William, and Caroline; and six grandchildren.
Services will be held at the First Christian Church on Wednesday, June 15, 2016, at 11:00 a.m.
