Kervin Roy Sellers PHD, also known as Sel or Doc, passed
away Friday morning June 3rd in San Antonio, surrounded by
many of his children and family. Kervin was born in San
Antonio Oct. 2nd 1940 as the 2nd child of Ethlyn and Cecil
L. Sellers. His family settled in Texas City where he went
on to graduate from Texas City High School. He attended Sam Houston State College, was a pitcher for the baseball team and a member of the ROTC. After graduating college, Kervin entered the Army with rank of 2nd lieutenant. Shortly after,
he started his first tour in Vietnam. As a decorated Vietnam Veteran, US Army Major retired, Kervin was a proud patriot.
After returning to the US following his last tour of duty in Vietnam, Kervin was selected for an accelerated Doctorate program in Microbiology at Texas A&M University.

His Thesis demonstrated the successful transfer of a gene
between species of bacteria. It is one of the most widely read dissertations on campus to this day.

Upon completion of his Doctorate Degree, Kervin received an
