Obituary for Dr. Edgar James "Eddie" Els II
Dr. Edgar James "Eddie" Els II, age 70 of Lafayette, LA, passed away peacefully in his sleep at Amelia Manor Nursing Facility in Lafayette on Friday, October 30, 2015.
He was preceded in death by his infant sister, Hattie Helen Els; parents Grace and Edgar James "Buddy" Els I.; and his beloved son, Edgar James "Jamie" Els III.
Eddie was born and raised in Alexandria, LA.
Beloved father of Katherine A. Els-Sparks and husband, Blayne C.Sparks of Patterson, LA; a beloved brother of Barbara Els Tschida and husband, Greg of Mississippi; and Kay Els Filostrat and husband, Dimitri of Mississippi.
Also survived by former spouse and mother of his children, Susie Els of Pineville; and former spouse, Ronnie Els of Jeanerette; stepson Matthew Ronquillo; precious grandson, Reiley James Sparks; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Eddie maintained a thriving veterinarian practice for many years on Moss St. in North Lafayette. He was an extremely kind and generous man; always ready to help someone in need. He loved and was loved in return by his many "4-legged clients". Proudly, he was also a retired veteran from the United States Army.
Eddie participated in Beach Volleyball on Moss St., which he truly enjoyed. He will be sadly missed and always remembered fondly by his family and friends.
Graveside Services will be held at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, November 3, 2015, at Alexandria Memorial Gardens, with Rev. Christian Stubbs officiating.
