Lonnie Newton(1949 - 2016)
Lonnie Newton, 66, of Big Spring died Wednesday, June 1, 2016, in a Colorado City hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 4, 2016, at First Baptist Church with the Rev. Mark Lindsey, pastor, officiating. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, June 3, 2016, at Nalley-Pickle and Welch Funeral Home.
He was born Dec. 10, 1949, in Big Spring, Texas, and married Diana Langley June 2, 1970, in Big Spring, Texas.
Lonnie graduated from Big Spring High School in 1968, from Texas A & M University in 1972, and received his masters degree in banking from Southern Methodist University. He was a banker in Big Spring from 1980 until retiring in 2012. He was also involved in various aspects of the agricultural industry.
Lonnie was a wonderful husband, dad and papa. He always put his family first.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Diana Newton of Big Spring; two sons, Brian Newton and wife Page of College Station, and John Newton and wife Christina of Midland; one daughter, Kristen Rau of Austin; four granddaughters, Averie Newton, Addison Newton, Chloe Newton, and Elizabeth Newton; one sister, Shirley Long and husband Donnie; one brother, Harrell Newton and wife Darlene; a sister-in-law, Sherry Newton all of Big Spring; brother-in-law Leon Langley and wife Sharon of San Angelo; and many beloved cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Emsey "Pug" Newton and Chloie Stuteville Newton; and two brothers, Marion Newton and Jimmie Don Newton.
The family suggests memorials to the First Baptist Church, 705 W. FM 700, Big Spring, Texas, 79720 or to the Howard County A & M Club, 2100 S. Monticello, Big Spring, Texas, 79720.
