Alan Boyd Caldwell
(January 24, 1936 - April 29, 2016)

Alan Boyd Caldwell passed away on Friday, April 29, 2016, at the age of 80. He was born on January 24, 1936, in Madisonville, Texas, to James Floyd Caldwell and Mary Lena Allen Caldwell. He served with Distinction in the Texas Air National Guard. On December 29, 1962, he married Betty Jean Miller in Houston, Texas. Alan was a 1964 graduate of Texas A&M University. He has resided in Katy since 1982, where he was a member of the First United Methodist Church. He was a former member of the Joyful Noisemakers and Chancellor Choir, as well as a member of the Good Samaritan Sunday School class, and secretary of the United Methodist Men. Alan was also the President of the Holiday Ramblers Recreational Club – Gulf Coast Chapter 28, and a member of the Texas Indian Hobbyist Association.

He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Betty Caldwell; children, Paula Jean Gist and her husband Steve, and Breta Jean Goodrow; two grandchildren, Lindsay Nicole Elmore and her husband Corey, and Jordan Daniel Goodrow; great grandson, Cayden Allen Elmore; brothers, Thomas William Caldwell and his wife Faye, and James Floyd Caldwell, Jr. and his wife Lisa; sister, Jeannine Hoke and her husband Harold; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and other loving family members and friends.

The family will receive friends from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 1, 2016, at the Schmidt Funeral Home Chapel, in Katy. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, May 2, 2016, at the First United Methodist Church of Katy, with Dr. Richard L. White and Rev. Mark Kimbrough officiating. Interment in Katy Magnolia Cemetery.
