Robert Luikens

Robert "Bob" L. Luikens, 69, of Sparta, TN, formerly of Conroe, TX, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, April 20, 2016. Bob was born November 27, 1946 in Navasota, TX to the late Milton L. and Lillie Mae Luikens. Bob was a loving family man with a spirited disposition and was known for his quick wit and dry sense of humor. He was a passionate Texas Aggie, award-winning barbeque pit master, enjoyed golf, gardening and tending their farm. Bob was a successful accountant, businessman and manager of financial affairs for various clients. He was generous with his time, volunteering to help those in need. Upon retirement 4 years ago, he and Gayle his wife of 37 years moved to Sparta where they became active members of First United Methodist Church in Sparta. Bob is survived by his loving wife: Gayle Maner Luikens, daughter: Lorie (Danius) Tekorius of Portland, OR, step-sons: Dennis Daniel (Lisa) of Pensacola, FL, Rodney Daniel (Terri) of Sparta, TN, two grandsons and four great granddaughters. He is also survived by his brothers: Tommy (Susan) Luikens and Richard (Sue) Luikens as well as many fun-loving, rowdy family members and friends. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to Tangent Christmas Party in care of Sparta First United Methodist Church 23 N. Church Street, Sparta, TN 38583 or a charity of choice . Service will be Tuesday, April 26th, 11:00 am at Sparta First United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends after 10am Tuesday at the church. Rich Morgan will officiate.
