David O. Olson
Born: July 29, 1925
Died: July 18, 2004
Location: Allenspark, Colorado

David Olson, 78, of Allenspark, CO passed away on Sunday, July 18, 2004 at Hospice Care Center, Louisville. Private family graveside inurnment with military honors by Marine Corps League will be on Thursday, June 22, 2004 at Sunset Memorial Gardens. A memorial service will be at 2:00 p.m., Friday, July 23, 2004 at Allenspark Community Church. Cremation will be completed. David was born July 29, 1925 in Lake Forest, Illinois to David Olaf and Mabel (Anderson) Olson. He married Peggy Altman on August 9, 1947 in Maywood, Illinois. He had lived in Greeley from 1953-85 and then moved to Allenspark. David graduated from Highland Park High School and Northern Illinois State Teachers College with a BA. He received his Master’s degree from Colorado State College in Greeley and graduated from Texas A&M with his Doctorate. He taught at Grant High School in Fox Lake, Illinois, then elementary through high school at the University Lab School in Greeley and later as an industrial arts professor at the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley. He was a former member of the First Congregational Church of Greeley and was a member of the Allenspark Community Church. He was a member of the Allenspark Community Club and enjoyed family, friends, golfing, music, theater and was a master artist in woodworking. David served in the U. S. Marine Corps 2nd Division during World War II and received two Purple Hearts in Saipan and Okinawa His wife, Peggy Olson of Allenspark, CO; son, Richard Olson and wife Janice of Parker, CO; daughter, Debra and husband Robert Tolar of Valencia, CA; brother, Robert Olson and wife Shirley of Sacramento, CA; sisters, Lillian and husband Jack Lacome of Grass Valley, CA and Dorothy Olson of Seattle, WA; five grandchildren and one great grandchild survive him. His parents and sister Natalie Underwood preceded him in death. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Hospice Care of Boulder and Broomfield County in care of Allnutt Funeral Service, 702 13th Street, Greeley, CO 80631.
