1956-2015
Louis Charles Evans III, 58, of Houston, passed away Sunday, the 15th of February 2015 at his home.
Chuck was born the 25th of July 1956 in Chicago, Illinois to the late Louis Charles Jr. and Mary Joan (Reeves) Evans. Chuck graduated from Alvin High School in 1974, and graduated summa cum laude with a BBA in accounting in 1978 from Texas A&M University.
Chuck spent more than 30 years at Grant Thornton LLP as a CPA in the audit department, finding great community and lifelong friendships at the firm. He became a partner in 1996, and furthered his professional accomplishments through his appointments to serve on committees with the Securities and Exchange Commission, the AICPA's Accounting Standards Executive Committee, and FASB's Emerging Issues Task Force. He also enjoyed teaching and educating others within the accounting field as an active speaker and author.
However, Chuck's greatest passion was his three children: Geoff, Zach, and Lauren. He was a loving and devoted father who constantly encouraged his children to pursue their aspirations. He passed on his enthusiasm for sports, trivia, music, and travel.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Raymond. In addition to his children, Chuck is survived by his sister, Jo Anne Hudson; brothers, John and Lawrence; aunts, Anna Marie Evans and Patricia Igel; ten nieces and nephews.
The memorial service is to be conducted at half-past ten o'clock in the morning on Tuesday, the 24th of February, in the chapel of Chapelwood United Methodist Church, 11140 Greenbay in Houston.
In lieu of the customary remembrances, the family asks that memorial contributions be directed to the Texas A&M Foundation in Chuck's memory.
