John TREADWELL
TREADWELL, John
John Treadwell passed away Sunday, December 14th, from natural causes. He struggled his last few years with Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy, a form of dementia. Before then, he was a force to be reckoned with.
He was born in Austin and stayed in Austin. He was unusually strong, in mind and body. He dominated on the football field, earning unanimous football and academic All-American honors for the University of Texas. He was a veterinarian in the Austin community
for over 37 years, providing compassionate care for our four-legged friends and their owners.
He spent his favorite years attending countless sporting events for his four daughters and grandkids. He spent every minute he could outdoors hunting and fishing. He showed us a world of toughness, compassion, grace, and humility. He will be greatly missed
by his wife of 48 years, Peg, his daughters Leah, Larah, Lochen, and Lindsay, and their families including ten beautiful grandchildren.
When facing challenges in life, he would tell us "Give 'em hell." We knew it meant, "Do your best, I love you, be tough, I'll be thinking about you, don't give up, you're great no matter how you do..." So give 'em hell, Dad.
In lieu of flowers or gifts, please consider a contribution to the Coastal Conservation Association or the Darrell K Royal Research Fund for Alzheimer's Disease.
A reception to honor his memory will occur on Sunday, December 28th, 2014 at 1pm at 2500 Hatley Dr., Austin, TX 78746.
