William Duncan "Bear" Baker
William Duncan “Bear” Baker, 64, of Amarillo died Thursday, Oct. 30, 2014.
Memorial services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday in Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel. Arrangements are by Boxwell
Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.
Duncan “Bear” was born Sept. 27, 1950, in Macon, Ga., to Alfred and Koma Jo Baker. He graduated from Tascosa High School and received a bachelor’s degree in aerospace engineering from Texas A&M University. He worked for NASA in the 1970s and more recently,
he worked for the government at Bell Helicopter. He was an active member of Trinity
Fellowship.
He married Carol McKillip on May 25, 1996. Duncan “Bear,” as his grandkids lovingly called him, had a quick wit and always had a twinkle in his eye. He will be terribly missed by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife, Carol of Amarillo; two sons, Gray Baker of Fort Worth and Ryan Baker of Canyon;
two stepsons, William West McKillip and Christina of Amarillo and Allen McKillip and Shaunda of Fort Collins, Colo.; two brothers, Al Baker Jr. and Jan of Chicago and Tom Baker and Dianna of Lubbock; an uncle, Carl Johnson and Jan of Bushland; an aunt, Francis
Kippes and Robert of South Dakota; and his 10 grandchildren, Kayla and Gray D. Baker, Austin, Reece, Jake, Jordan and Risa McKillip, Kendall, Kelton and Katelin Weller.
The family suggests memorials to Faith City Mission, 401 S.E. Second Ave., Amarillo, TX 79101.
