Charles Owen Burch
1925 - 2014 A funeral service for Charles Owen Burch, 89, of Tyler will be held on Saturday, November 1, 2014 at 2:00 PM at Stewart Family Funeral Home with Dr. Steve Simmons officiating. Visitation will be held preceding the service at 1:00 PM at the Funeral Home. Following the service, burial will take place at the Rose Hill Cemetery in Tyler under the direction of Stewart Family Funeral Home. Mr. Burch went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on October 24, 2014 at the Hamptons at PineForest in Tyler. Charlie was born on July 8, 1925 in Port Arthur, Texas to William J. and Agnes Armbruster Burch. He grew up in Port Arthur and attended Texas A&M University where he majored in Chemical Engineering. He served his country in the US Navy during World War II. After returning from the war, he graduated from Texas A&M and worked for the Pure Oil Company in Nederland, Texas. He met Mary Bess Guinn, a school teacher in Port Arthur, and they were married on June 16, 1951. They lived in Port Arthur, Texas, Arlington Heights, Illinois, and Beaumont, Texas before retiring to Tyler in 1991. After moving to Tyler, Charlie joined the Fifth Street Presbyterian Church. Pallbearers will be Brian Burch, Robert Guinn, Robert Kanewske, Adam Cousins, Charlie Cousins and Andrew Cousins. Charlie is survived by his daughter, Beverly Burch of Arlington, Texas; son, William Guinn Burch and wife Donna of Tulsa, Oklahoma; two grandchildren, Brian Burch of Tulsa and Julie Burch of New Orleans; brother, Ralph Burch and wife, Dorothy of Port Arthur, Texas; sister-in-law, Beverly Danewske and husband, Joe of Tyler; and brother-in-law, Robert Guinn and wife, Mary of Lancaster, Texas.
